Family Holidays

A family holiday on the Isle of Harris can be a perfect escape to a cosy holiday home with a difference.  With gardens to explore and your own pebble beach there is lots for children to enjoy without leaving the cottage.  Here is a place where parents can sit and relax whilst children can run, play and make as much noise as they like without disturbing the neighbours. On the Isle of Harris you willl find something to inspire everyone.

Children at the beachSometimes when you’re on holiday you can feel a bit pressured to dash around cramming in all the best things to see and do. Before you know it, the holiday’s over. If you’d rather just relax and go with the flow, the Hebridean way, then there are many attractions just a short drive away from Mol Bàn. The main town of Tarbert is only a short drive away, a little further and you will reach the famous white sandy beaches.

There are fun days, carnivals, festivals and all within driving distance of Mol Bàn.  Take a boat trip to St. Kilda for a special day out, or visit the famous Callanish Stones on Lewis, follow the coast road down and visit Rodel Church to see the tomb of the hunchback knight, or watch a display of weaving the famous Harris Tweed.

If walking is your pleasure then Harris has walks to suit all levels of fitness, for photographers the landscapes are legendary.  Wildlife is abundant and bird watchers will find no shortage of species on land or sea.  Salmon and trout fishing is available, or try fly fishing from the rocks, sea angling can also be fun for all the family.  If golf is your passion there are two golf courses available to you, one on Harris and the other in Stornoway.  There is so much choice and variety of things to do and places to see that you will never be stuck for choice, nor worry about children being bored.
